An 4 PDU Interactive Seminar

Recovering Troubled Projects

When is the last time you worked on a project that was planned and executed perfectly and where you met expectations in terms of budget, deadline and product quality? Although no project is absolutely perfect, most projects are probably completed with an "acceptable" amount of problems and stress.

Of course, there are other projects that meet the criteria of "troubled". These projects have significant problems in meeting their deadline, budget or deliverables – perhaps all three. The purpose of this class is to help determine whether a project is "troubled" and if so, to lay out a process to turn the project around. A troubled project is too far gone to meet the original expectations. However, this class will show you processes and techniques designed to reset expectations and then to successfully deliver the project to meet the revised commitments.

The attendees should have a solid project management background.

At the end of this class, participants will be able to:

  • Determine if a project is "troubled"?
  • · Define and plan a recovery project
  • · Assess the cause of the troubled project
  • · Develop and activate a recovery plan
  • · Ensure the troubled project completes within revised expectations

  • Senior project managers and staff managers
  • · Senior staff members
  • · Senior client managers that will assist in recovering a troubled project

  • Is the project "troubled"?
  • · Define and plan a recovery project
  • · Assess the troubled project
  • · Develop a recovery plan
  • · Activate the recovery plan
  • · Measure and monitor the recovery plan

PMISC Participates in Career Source Brevard Event

The PMI Space Coast Chapter staffed a table at an event hosted by Career Source Brevard at the Radisson Resort in Cape Canaveral on March 13, 2014 entitled "First Impressions -- Barriers to Employment.” 130 displaced aerospace workers heard messages on job-seeking tips by executives from area employers and consultants, and were introduced to the benefits of networking, and affiliations with professional organizations such as PMI Space Coast Chapter. Six people signed up for follow-up information regarding benefits of membership in PMI and our chapter, and Career Source Brevard has expressed their thanks for our contribution to the success of the program.
