Professional Development Workshop

Presenter 1: Roy A. Nyquist

Mastering Contract, Procurement Management can be tough. Project Managers routinely balance competing objectives in the attainment of Project success. Often a poorly written contract and/ or less than optimal procurement management plan can make the role of the PM arduous. Mr. Roy A. Nyquist will present, "Contract / Procurement Management, the `fine print' to Project Success" at the PMISC chapter Professional Development Workshop. Come hear Mr. Nyquist share his 25 years of contract, procurement expertise and reduce those blurred lines between Procurements and Project Success.

Roy A. Nyquist Bio: Mr. Nyquist has more than 25 years of hands-on government procurement experience in addition to managing all corporate contracts both public and private. He holds a Masters Degree in Contract Management from Florida Tech and has taught basic through executive contracting courses while assigned to the U.S. Army Logistics Management College (DAU). Currently Mr. Nyquist is the Contract Manager for Tremco Incorporated and an adjunct Professor for ESI-International, a global project-focused training company.

Presenter 2: Antoinette L. Mordecai

Wth a solid Procurement Management Plan and appropriate acquisitions in place, Ms. Antoinette L. Mordecai will be our second featured presenter with, "Applied Microsoft Project". Ms. Mordecai will take project management to the next level with the use of powerful desktop tools to analyze and plan resources, budgets, timelines, and what-if scenarios. Please register early to reserve your seat at the PMI Space Coast chapter Professional Development Workshop. With two highly acclaimed professional educators and the beautiful new Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral, this is not an event you can afford to miss. 4 PDUs will be awarded for the 4 hour event.

Antoinette L. Mordecai Bio:

Ms. Mordecai is an accomplished software trainer with 12 years of experience training personnel from a variety of industries and major firms. She has mastered Microsoft applications – Access, Excel, FrontPage, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Publisher and Word. Her seasoned blend of computer skills and years of end-user training in HR, Finance and Accounting have consistently resulted in high acclaim. Ms. Mordecai has a B.A. in Business Administration from Rutgers University

In The Spotlight - April

 

 

Scott Steele, VP of Finance

This month’s Spotlight is on the Vice President of Finance, Scott Steele.    Scott has served in this role for just over 1 year and has been a member of the Space Coast Chapter for 7 years.  In this role, Scott is responsible for developing the annual budget, reporting to the board on the status Chapter finances, pays all Chapter expenses, and is a voting member of the Chapter Board.

Scott currently works for QinetiQ North America at the Kennedy Space Center where he is a Senior Project Manager.  He works with the NASA Construction of Facilities group on projects for the Ground Systems Development and Operations group.  These projects are mostly within the Vehicle Assembly Building where it is being transformed to allow processing of the next generation NASA Spacecraft.

Scott is a graduate of Cleveland State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He obtained his PMP Certification in December 2007.  He has been a project manager for more than 25 years with a diverse background working with the Government, commercial, and private businesses mostly with multidiscipline architect/engineering projects.

Scott has been married to a wonderful woman for 29 years and has 4 daughters - all who will have graduated from college come this May, one with a master’s degree.  He currently resides in Merritt Island having moved here from Cleveland, Ohio in 2000.   In his leisure time, he likes to play ice hockey.  He plays twice a week on a 50+ team that plays in a national championship tournament every April in Brandon, FL.  He also enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family and their yellow lab, Charlie.
